Award for Injury Research (AIR)

Philosophy Statement

The NB Trauma Program was created to ensure comprehensive, high quality and coordinated trauma care, education, research and injury prevention across New Brunswick.  This work is accomplished by providing leadership and coordination for trauma with our program partners – the NB Department of HealthHorizon Health NetworkVitalité Health Network and Ambulance NB.

Introduction

The purpose of the Trauma Program’s award for injury research is to support research in any field related to injury.  This includes injury prevention, pre-hospital and emergency care, and rehabilitation.  The annual AIR provides our research and community partners with the opportunity to apply for financial support for their projects and initiatives.

Submissions to the AIR are encouraged from the entire spectrum of health care providers, administrators and clinical and academic researchers based in New Brunswick. For the AIR 2017-2018 competition, the fund provides up to a maximum of $10 000 in funding to increase research activity, support teams at the early stages of research program development, foster research capacity, and turn research activities into improved health care for our population.  Multiple awards may be made during each annual funding competition.

Objectives of AIR seeks to:

  • Increase the capacity for injury research throughout New Brunswick.
  • Support the formation of health research teams and programs.
  • Facilitate collaborative efforts among our staff, researchers and community partners.
  • Enhance the health and wellness of our patients, clients, staff, and communities through the dissemination of research findings (knowledge exchange) via publications, presentations, public forums and conferences.

Applicant Eligibility At least one of the principal applicant(s) must be a member of a health professional group in New Brunswick, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and allied health professionals.  Other special interest groups are also encouraged to apply.  If you’re not sure you or your research idea qualifies, please contact us for a free consultation.
