Research collaboration to benefit health care for New Brunswickers

September 2018 brought with it exciting news for the NB Trauma Program as the New Brunswick Institute for Research, Data and Training (NB-IRDT) announced their expansion of a satellite office in Saint John. Specific data from the NB Trauma Registry is now included in the NB-IRT’s data repository. This means that prehospital and in-hospital care experience of trauma patients that are in the NB Trauma Registry can be linked to other important databases such as vital statistics and Discharge Abstract Database (DAD) while protecting personal information. This data allows researchers to further enhance care for New Brunswickers who have been seriously or critically injured. It also enables the NB Trauma Program to comprehensively target injury prevention initiatives based on a complete picture of trauma in our province.
